The Partridge Rock (Plymouth Rock) are the best representation of the term dual purpose. They are hardy and adaptable breed with a friendly, even temperament. These birds are physically large with meaty bodies and hens are quite good layers that will occasionally go broody. With so many desirable attributes this utility chicken is the foundational stock of many modern hybrid breeds. Mature weight 7.5 to 9.5 lbs. Very good layer. Cold/heat tolerant. Occasionally broody.
